Huawei Selected by Optus for 4G Deployment in Australia

Huawei and Singtel-Optus have teamed up for 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) rollout in Australia, according to a March 14, 2012 report by the Financial Review. Optus has yet to confirm the schedule and costs of the 4G network deployment. It is reported that Optus plans to switch to LTE 4G network starting from the middle of 2012 in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. Newcastle, Port Stephens, the Hunter Valley, and Lake Macquarie are projected to deploy Huawei's 4G network starting from April this year.
